I was in the market for a new gas grill for my Sunday BBQs since mine started giving me problems at the end of fall last year. I came close to doing what I thought would be the smart thing, and almost bought a very similar grill at a huge discount during the winter when gas grills are obviously much cheaper. I’m so glad I decided to wait and ended up with this Dyna-Glo Smart Space Gas Grill. It has seen me through all of this year’s BBQ season and I can’t ever imagine going back to a grill like I used to use before – it just seems so inferior now!
If you are already familiar with a gas grill, then you already know about all the conveniences of being able to press a button and have the flame start up. Sure charcoal tastes better, but who has the time or energy to keep it going, especially when cooking for so many people? For me, it’s gas all the way. This one doesn’t impress or disappoint in ease of getting it started – which isn’t a complaint, just about all gas grills light right up at the push of a button.
At first look, this grill might seem a bit small, but once you open the lid, you realize you have ample cooking space. Sure, it may not be huge like some of the super expensive grills you see out there, but I regularly entertain for 15-20 people and have never had a single space issue with this grill – although I am very space efficient when grilling. The small size does come in handy though. At my BBQs, we often congregate in different areas of the yard on different weeks. While most full size grills take a few people to be moved efficiently across thick grass, this one glides across the yard with ease, even with only one person pulling.
So far, all the people who have attended my BBQs have told me that my steaks and burgers are even juicier and tastier this year. I do spend a good amount of time reading and studying new grilling tips, so I don’t want to say it is all because of the new grill, but if someone told me my new grill was the key to my better steaks and burgers, I certainly wouldn’t be offended. I suspect it has a whole lot to do with it as well.
There is one thing that I wish was a little different, and that was the way I received the grill – I had to assemble it myself. The instructions were very clear and the assembly only took about an hour, but I would have been much happier if it was ready to use as soon as I got it home. Still, an hour is not a lot of time to set up something that has provided me so much pleasure since I purchased it. This grill definitely comes highly recommended by me and my guests who have tasted the meats that came out of it.
