If you had told me four months ago that something as simple as a vegetable slicer would change the way I cook and the way my family eats, I probably would have called you a liar. Not because I’m a rude person or anything, I just never would have believed something like that without seeing the proof with my own eyes. Thankfully, I’ve had the opportunity to see exactly that firsthand, when I bought my Paderno World Cuisine Tri-Blade Spiral Vegetable Slicer. I originally bought it to help me with prepping vegetables for cooking, but have discovered since that it is capable of so much more than that.
In my family, I do almost all of the cooking, and with a total of six of us, that works out to be quite a lot of food. I don’t mind, as cooking for my family makes me happy, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t tire me out as well. One of the most tiring things for me, is chopping up and preparing all of those vegetables. It’s tough on my hands and bothers my arthritis. As a result, I stopped using so many vegetables in my cooking, something that I wasn’t happy about, since it meant that my family wasn’t getting adequate nutrition. I’m sure they weren’t eating their vegetables outside of the house when they don’t have to.
After doing a lot of research, I finally decided on this Paderno model. I decided to make a beef stew that night, one of my family’s favorites, but one of my least favorite to make because of all the peeling, chopping and dicing involved. With the Paderno, it all went so smoothly, that I was done with my prep over half an hour early, and I was noticeably less exhausted.
My favorite part though, I discovered as we implemented a low-carb diet for out family. We all agreed it would be healthy for us, but we love our pasta and can’t imagine a week going by without a pasta night. Using my Paderno though, I can make delicious pasta using nothing but zucchini. I know it doesn’t sound all that appetizing when you read it, but I served it to my family without telling them, and they didn’t even know the difference! Since then we have been having zucchini pasta about twice a week and it’s so incredibly easy to make using my Paderno. Together, all six of us so far have lost over 40 pounds in just a couple months since we started having zucchini pasta instead of regular pasta.
The Paderno has become such an integral part of my kitchen now, that I could’t imagine living without it at this point. In fact, I consider it to be one of the things that I would rush out and purchase another of, if it were ever to break. Fortunately for me, it feels incredibly sturdy, so much so that I couldn’t imagine it ever breaking.
