Teething is a long, painful process which can last for well over year and it’s not fun for you or your baby. Irritability, not wanting to eat and trouble falling and staying asleep are just some of the problems that teething can bring. But there is something you can do to help ease the pain and misery: teething tablets.
Teething tablets help ease the pain of cutting teeth as well as the swelling in their gums which helps them relax when away and fall asleep when it’s bed time.
Normally I like to offer a few top choices but in this case, Hyland’s really is the best option.
All you do is put 2-3 tablets under your baby’s tongue or dissolve them in water and have them drink it; they’ll have hours of relief from the pain and swelling. It really is a life saver and safe to use for up to 7 days in a row (longer with permission from your doctor).
In 2010, there was an FDA recall on Hyland’s teething tablets due to concern that the Belladonna 3X HPUS (0.0003% Alkaloids) wasn’t being accuratly measured into the product and there may have been too much Belladonna which could cause poisining.
After this incident, Hyland’s tightened their manufacturing process and greatly reduced the amount of Belladonna used in the tablets (which is used to reduce swelling) to just 0.0000000000003% Alkaloids. This is a very safe level and no further issues have been reported.
To put that into perspective, a 10lb baby would have to consume 1620 tablet, all at once, before having any side effects such as dry mouth.
Still, it’s best to talk with your doctor before using any product like this on your child.
If your baby is teething or will be soon, give these a try and help ease this painful process. You really will be glad you did (and so will they).
