You don’t have to be stuck with a horrible TV just because you don’t have thousands of dollars to spend. Finding the best HDTV under $200 can be tough but LCD TVs have become much cheaper to produce over the past couple of years and more good quality options have been breaking the $200 barrier. These HDTV’s are perfect for a small bedroom, dorm room, office or simply an inexpensive option for your main TV.
If you’re after the best picture and a slim, light design, you can’t beat this Samsung. The 1080p picture is crisp, with good colors and very good viewing angles for this price range. The LED backlighting allows it to be very thin, light and power efficient. At 22″, it’s not a big screen but if you’re going to be using it in places where you’re sitting fairly close to the screen (3′-6′), you’ll apriciate the higher resolution 1080p. Warranty: 1 year parts & labor.
This Philips strikes a good balance between providing a larger screen while still providing good overall quality for a TV in the $200 and under price range. It offers an LED backlight which helps with providing a wider range of colors while keeping the TV reasonably thin and light. The set of 3 HDMI connection ports provides good connectivity and the built-in sound is adequate. Warranty: 1 year parts & labor.
It’s still nearly impossible to find a good HDTV for under $200 unless it’s a limited time sale. But we wanted to offer you an option with a bigger screen in case the Samsung and Philips were just too small for you. This Vizio is $45 over our $200 limit but in this case, if you want something larger than 26″ and don’t want to be stuck with junk, spending a bit more really is the only option.
This Vizio is an unbeatable deal at — and is the best 32″ hdtv for around $200. 2 HDMI imputs is still good enough for a typical cable/satellite and DVD player setup and the 720p screen is very good for this price range both in terms of viewing angle and color. If you can squeeze a bit more into your budget, go for the Vizio. Warranty: 1 year parts & labor.
While it’s not easy to find a decent HDTV under $200, the 22 inch Samsung UN22F5000 is a solid choice and our top pick, mainly because of its crisp 1080p screen and good viewing angles. The small screen size might be an issue if you’re watching TV in a medium to large room but in a small space, it’s the best choice.
If you do plan on sitting further than 5 feet or so from your TV, you’ll probably want a larger screen. In this case, the Philips 26 inch 26PFL4507 is your best choice if if you’re trying to stay under $200.
The Vizio 32 inch E320-A1 would have been our top choice here except that it missed the $200 price limit by $45. But this is an amazing TV for just $245 and would be the best option if you have a larger room and can afford spending a bit more. It only has 2 HDMI ports which might be a bit of an annoyance if you want to keep your cable, DVD player and a video game console hooked up but it’s a very minor annoyance when you consider you’re getting a good 32″ picture for under $250.
